Presentation of the check in honor of Jim Tomlinson. Jim was born on March 8, 1967, in Nashua NH, the son of G. Donald and Cynthia (Johnston) Tomilson. Jim was a quiet man, humble by nature. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hiking, hunting, and fishing. Jim was beloved in his community. After graduating from Central High School, Jim joined the Army. After three years of active service he returned to NH, became a reservist to fulfill his contract, and joined the Deerfield Police Department. After ten years in Deerfield, he moved over to the Raymond Police Department for the rest of his career. In the meantime, he had returned to the military as a National Guardsman. He served honorably in two overseas deployments and a few in the US. Jim helped people. He cared about the youth of Deerfield. He spent 35 years as an Assistant Scout Leader for Troop 138 in Deerfield. While the Youth Officer in Deerfield he helped create the Deerfield Teen Center, a place that gave kids who weren't into sports a place to go in the afternoon. Many kids remember him fondly as their DARE instructor and in Raymond, as the School Resource Officer. He made a positive impact on the high school students during his tenure there. He was known for always being fair. Jim was active in his church. If there was a need, he helped. He especially enjoyed his service as a Deacon and as a Church School teacher.
